In Austrian Auto Accident

Member of Patton's Army Was Run-Over By Truck

 (June 21, 1945) -- Corporal John Brown, 23, died May 28 in Manchusen, Austria.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown of Hornblower Avenue, Corp. Brown was a member of the medical detachment of the 21st Amored Infantry Battalion in General George Patton's 3rd Army.

Corp. Brown was recently awarded a Bronze Star for his efforts during the 3rd Army's march through France into Germany.

Brown graduated Belleville High School in 1940.

He entered the service in 1942, and went to Fort Dix., N.J., and then to Camp Polk, La., for additional training. He also trained in Texas and California.

Corp. Brown, serial No. 32572239, went overseas in September 1944.
