Seaman John J. Kant Is Among Missing (July 30, 1942) -- Seaman 2/c John J. Kant, 20, of DeWitt Avenue, was reported missing in action, the Navy notified his family this week. Kant, the son of a World War I vet who served in the 9th Infantry of the 2nd Division, enlisted in the Navy six months ago. He trained at Newport, R.I. Kant was born in Belleville.
