John J. Kant

Seaman John J. Kant Is Among Missing

(July 30, 1942) -- Seaman 2/c John J. Kant, 20, of DeWitt Avenue, was reported missing in action, the Navy notified his family this week.

Kant, the son of a World War I vet who served in the 9th Infantry of the 2nd Division, enlisted in the Navy six months ago.

He trained at Newport, R.I.

Kant was born in Belleville. He attended Good Counsel and then Bloomfield High School.
