S/Sgt. Francis C. Mc Enery

Mc Enery KIA on Bombing Mission

Staff Sergeant Francis C. Mc Enery, of 34 Fairway Avenue, Belleville, N.J., U.S. Army Air Forces, 325th Bomb Squadron, 92nd Bomb Group, Heavy, died along with the crew on January 4, 1944.

According to the 92 Bomb Group, the B-17F #22494 was lost to antiaircraft fire over the target of Kiel, Germany, and all crew members were killed.

The B-17F crew consisted of 2 Lt. Raymond J. Mancu, Pilot; Robert L. Owen, Copilot; Lee W. Brennan, Navigator; James R. Hughes, Bombardier; Harold W. Wolf, Flight Engineer; Maurice E. Helsom, Radio Operator; Francis C. McEnery, Ball Turret Gunner; Howard D. Benson, Right Waist Gunner; Kenneth J. Miller, Left Waist Gunner; Russell O. Sehm, Tail Gunner.

Mc Enery entered the service from New Jersey. His serial number is 32469117.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

McEnery is buried at Plot B Row 14 Grave 1, Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium.
