Sgt. John Miller Jr.

Sgt. John Miller Jr. Killed on Saipan

(July 27, 1944) -- Sgt. John J. Miller, Jr., was killed in action in bloody fighting on Saipan, the Navy told his father, John Sr. of 18 Elmwood Avenue.

The young man moved to Florida after high school, and joined the U. S.  Marines in 1939. He was stationed in the Virgin Islands and then the South Pacific two years ago.
