2nd Lt. Emil Ostrowski

Lt. Ostrowski Dies in English Skies on D-Day
 

(June 22, 1944) -- 2nd. Lt. Emil Ostrowski, 23, of Union Avenue, a B-26 Marauder copilot was killed in action over England on D-Day, June 6.

Ostrowski enlisted in the Army in July 1942.

The young airman trained at Maxwell Field, Ala., Bennettsville and Shaw Fields, S.C.

He was commissioned last November at Turner Field, Albany, Ga.,

2nd. Lt. Ostrowski went overseas three months ago.

Born in South River, he was graduated from Plainfield High School, and moved to Belleville five years ago. His parents live on Union Avenue.
