Marine Hero Fighter Pilot Believed Missing In Pacific

(Feb. 10, 1944) -- Lt. John F. Rogers, 25, of Birchwood Drive, was reported missing in the Gilbert and Ellice Island area of the South Pacific. He is believed to be a victim of a tropical hurricane which scattered the squadron of which he was the leader.

Rogers was graduated from Notre Dame, and enlisted in the Marines in December 1940.
