Robert A. Stecker Reported Killed In French Action

Beech St. Soldier Leaves Daughter He Never Saw

(Sept. 21, 1944) -- Robert A. Stecker, an Army engineer, was killed in action in France on Aug. 15.

 The young soldier leaves behind a 16-month-old daughter Carolyn who he never saw.

Stecker joined the Army in 1942. He served in the Allied campaigns in North Africa, Sicily and Italy.

He moved his family to Beech Street two years ago from Newark.
