Belleville lost 11 young men in the Vietnam War Lt. Col. Alfred Barnes, 41, of 53 Ralph Street, was killed in Vietnam on May 12, 1969. Captain William Branch, 28, of 15 Overlook Avenue, was killed in Vietnam on June 6, 1970. Corp. Frank A. Cancelliere, 20, of 23 Florence Avenue, was killed in Vietnam on March 15, 1969 Roger Crowell, 20, of 100 Tiona Avenue, was killed in action in Vietnam on Jan. 31, 1968. Helder DaSilva, 24, killed in action in Vietnam on Feb. 7, 1966 Raymond DeLuca, 20, of 30 Meacham Street, was killed in action in Vietnam on June 27, 1968. Lance Cpl. Jerry R. Donatiello, 22, of 14 Frederick Street, was killed in action in Vietnam on Nov. 20, 1967. John Hoar, 20, of 80 Cleveland Street, was killed in action in Vietnam on Feb. 13, 1966. Carl L. Mickens, 26, of 61 Wilber Street, was killed in action in Vietnam on July 4, 1970. Corp. Paul Nelson, 20, of 132 Williams Street, was killed in action in Vietnam on May 31, 1969. Donald Saunders, 20, of 127-129 High Street, was killed in action in Vietnam on March 4, 1968.
